Le Garrick, Covent Garden
Le Garrick is a restaurant that I'm sure you will have walked past on more than one occasion. It's closely nestled between Covent Garden and Leicester Square, making it one of my favourite places to dine with its enviable location.
Every time I've visited Le Garrick has been a very romantic affair and during this summer season of love, I'm recommending this restaurant to you as one of London's best eateries to take someone special. Yes, believe it or not, this Fabulous Foodie can be romantic from time to time!
Le Garrick is a family-owned restaurant with passionate French roots burning throughout. From the Parisian exterior of the restaurant into their traditionally French concocted food, Le Garrick offers the best of France's palate in a setting reminiscent to Paris's artistic quarters like Montmartre.
Whether you're there on any day of the week for a relaxed meal or to celebrate a National day in France, where you can choose to celebrate with one of their specially-curated menus, Le Garrick will certainly impress. Bonus points are given if you can speak French too; its always a plus when you can explain the menu to your date!
Choose one of your 'plats' from a quintessentially French repetoire of dishes such as an Entrecôte Steak, Escargots, Fondue, Moules Marinières, a luscious Paté de Campagne Maison, Coq au Vin, a rich and delicious Boeuf Bourguignon and an Authentic Casserole de Toulouse. Between you and me, a pulled Duck burger with slaw may be joining Le Garrick family later this year, giving you another great reason to go.
I was lucky to be able to celebrate both the Goût de France this year on March 21st and Bastille Day on July 14th with Le Garrick. One of the delights of eating here is that the same members of staff are there every time - which in my opinion, makes it much more welcoming and really adds to the family-feel of the restaurant.
The interior is made up deep woods, walls plastered in French cultural memorabilia such as film and music posters transporting you to a romantic getaway on one of Paris's winding cobbled streets, plush crimson seating and of course, glimpses of bottles of French wines as you descend the black encircling staircase and approach the bar guarding the kitchen.

Le Garrick truly is a wonderful gem in the heart of London. If you're a fan of the delicious French cuisine or are looking to try something new, I'd strongly recommend going here for a special occasion. It's authentic, down-to-earth and continues to fly their flag to celebrate great French gastronomy and charm in London. Do note that Le Garrick also have a fantastic Pre-Post Theatre Menu too if you happen to be indulging in a little theatre glitz and glamour nearby. *A little secret to add to your evening after your drinks: say the secret phrase "Faire péter la poire". You won't regret it!
