Founded by two beautiful sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne in 2008, Georgetown Cupcakes has grown to become every sweet-toother's crack den. I wouldn't confess to having a sweet-tooth myself but I definitely was drooling at the site of these beauties and the queue leading out of the shop proved that my feelings of excitement were mutual with the other impatient customers.
Available in six locations spanning the U.S from New York to Los Angeles, Georgetown Cupcakes's unique flavours such as Double Milk Chocolate Birthday, Vegan Apple Cinnamon and Gluten-Free Strawberry Lava Fudge both intrigue and immediately satisfy. They are soft, they are fluffy and they are flavoursome. I attended the Newbury branch in Boston whilst on what felt like a carnal cupcake hunt; the craving was real friends; and I certainly got my cupcake fix here.
I chose the Vanilla Birthday Cupcake; I was not in the mood for experimentation. I wanted a fluffy, light vanilla cake with gorgeous batter and Georgetown delivered. I've had my fare share of cupcakes from Crumbs and Doilies, The Hummingbird Bakery, Magnolia Bakery, Kitsch Cupcakes in Dubai, Lola's Kitchen, Beverly Hills Bakery and The Primrose Bakery, but none had icing as light and satisfying as Georgetown.
It was simple and so effective. You know what they say: less is more and this was definitely the case for the Vanilla Birthday Cupcake. (Below) a very happy customer. Thank you ladies!
